ACCESSIBILITY Advisory Committee

 

meeting to be held on June 23, 2016, commencing at 3:01 PM, in Committee Room #4, Second Floor, London City Hall.

CALL TO ORDER

That it BE NOTED that no pecuniary interests were disclosed.

2.

Mental Health Working Group

 

That it BE NOTED that the Mental Health Working Group minutes from its meeting held on June 6, 2016, were received.

 

3.

Built Environment and Facilities

 

That the following actions be taken with respect to the Built Environment and Facilities Sub-Committee Report from its meeting held on June 13, 2016:

         

a)      the Civic Administration BE REQUESTED to respond to the Accessibility Advisory Committee (ACCAC) Built Environment and Facilities Sub-Committee’s previous request, as noted in the Municipal Council resolution adopted at its session held on May 3, 2016, with respect to providing statistical data regarding recorded trip usage of accessible cabs (relative to Schedule A, clauses 2.2 c and 2.2 d of the L-129-51 Licensing By-law);

b)      the following actions be taken with respect to temporary sidewalks:

i)       the Division Manager of Construction Administration BE REQUESTED to review the requirements for the provision of temporary sidewalks and note the following ACCAC concerns, with respect to the street widening project on Commissioners Road West, between Wonderland Road and Andover Drive:

-        there were no clear pedestrians routes along either side of the street ;

-        there was not any sidewalk closed signs along north side of street (east, or west)

-        there is a notable presence of high rise apartments along the north side of this site

-        there is a significant need for an open pedestrian route through this construction zone; and,

 

ii)       the Civic Administration BE REQUESTED to provide the Built Environment and Facility Sub-Committee with reference documents and/or policies that address the need for, and provision of, temporary sidewalks.

That it BE NOTED that the Education and Awareness Sub-Committee minutes from its meeting held on June 6, 2016, were received.

That it BE NOTED that the Policy Sub-Committee minutes from its meeting held on June 6, 2016, were received.

5th Report of the Accessibility Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the 5th Report of the Accessibility Advisory Committee from its meeting held on May 26, 2016, was received.

 

7.

Proposed Revision to the AODA

 

That it BE NOTED that a communication from the Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure, with respect to the proposed amendments to the Customer Service Standard Regulation and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation made under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, was received.

Trails Guidelines

 

That it BE NOTED that a communication dated May 2016, with respect to the Guidelines for Management Zones and Trails in Environmentally Significant Areas, was received.

9.

Age Friendly Open House

 

That it BE NOTED that a communication from Age Friendly London, with respect to an open house and celebration to be held on June 30, 2016 at the Kiwanis Seniors' Community Centre, was received.

10.

Request for Delegation - Ability First Coalition

 

That the Ability First Coalition BE INVITED to the August 25, 2016 meeting of the Accessibility Advisory Committee to speak on its initiatives.

 

11.

Summer Meeting Schedule

 

That it BE NOTED that the Accessibility Advisory Committee held a general discussion with respect to its summer meeting schedule and decided to meet in July and August, 2016.

 

12.

ACCAC 2016 Work Plan

 

That it BE NOTED that the Accessibility Advisory Committee reviewed and updated it 2016 Work Plan.

 

VI.

DEFERRED MATTERS/ADDITIONAL BUSINESS

 

13.

Transportation Advisory Committee Representative

 

That J. Madden BE APPOINTED as the Accessibility Advisory Committee representative on the Transportation Advisory Committee, for the term ending February 28, 2019.
