Middlesex London Food Policy Council Update and Community Garden Strategy

 

That it BE NOTED that the verbal presentation by C. Smith, Acting Director of Community and Economic Innovation, relating to the Middlesex London Food Policy Council update and the Community Garden Strategy update, was received; it being noted that the Advisory Committee on the Environment received copies of London’s Food Charter and the London Community Gardens Program Strategic Plan 2015-2019, which can be found on the City of London website.

6th Report of the Advisory Committee on the Environment

 

That it BE NOTED that the 6th Report of the Advisory Committee on the Environment from its meeting held on May 4, 2016, was received.

5th Report of the Transportation Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the 5th Report of the Transportation Advisory Committee from its meeting held on May 3, 2016, was received.

 

5.

5th and 6th Reports of the Environmental and Ecological Planning Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the 5th and 6th Reports of the Environmental and Ecological Planning Advisory Committee from its meetings held on April 21 and May 19, 2016, respectively, were received.

 

6.

5th Report of the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the 5th Report of the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee from its meeting held on April 27, 2016, was received.

 

7.

5th Report of the Advisory Committee on the Environment – Municipal Council Resolution

 

That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution from its session held on May 3, 2016, with respect to the 5th Report of the Advisory Committee on the Environment, was received.

 

 

8.

Provincial Environmental Advisory Committee Symposium

 

That the following actions be taken with respect to the Provincial Environmental Advisory Committee Symposium:

 

a)            the Committee Secretary BE REQUESTED to provide the Advisory Committee on the Environment (ACE) information on the Provincial Environmental Advisory Committee; and,

 

b)            the notes provided by D. Szoller from the Provincial Environmental Advisory Committee Symposium notes BE PROVIDED to the Environmental and Ecological Planning Advisory Committee for their information.

 

9.

Science Policy Forum on Impacts of and Alternatives to Systemic Pesticides

 

That Joan Brady, Sustainable Futures Consulting, and the Agricultural Advisory Committee Members BE INVITED to a future meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Environment to discuss the impacts of pesticides on pollinators; it being noted that the Science Policy Forum on Impacts of and Alternatives to Systematic Pesticides notes provided by D. Szoller, were received.

The London Plan

 

That it BE NOTED that the Notice of Public Participation Meeting and Public Open House for the London Plan dated May 4, 2016, was received.

ACE Budget

 

That it BE NOTED that consideration of the 2016 Advisory Committee on the Environment Summary of Expenses was postponed to its next meeting.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

 

12.

ACE Library

 

That it BE NOTED that discussion related to the future of the Advisory Committee on the Environment Library was postponed to the next meeting.

 

13.

Urban Agriculture Conference

 

That it BE NOTED that the verbal update by G. Sass with respect to the Urban Agriculture Conference, was received.

 

14.

Request for Funding for a Pollinator Flyer Mail Out

 

That D. Szoller BE REQUESTED to provide the Director, Environment Fleet and Solid Waste, with copies of the Pollinator brochure to include with materials being provided during festivals and events.

 

15.

Rain and Run Off Sewage Spills into the Thames River

 

That the Civic Administration BE REQUESTED to provide the following with respect to the Thames River Monitoring to the Advisory Committee on the Environment:

 

a)            a synopsis of the monitoring and tracking that the City implements in order to offset spills into the Thames River;

 

b)            the most recent report to review; and,

 

c)            any reports, when they are provided to the Civic Works Committee.

 

16.

Defining and Applying Diversity: 'Gender Lens'

 

That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution adopted at its meeting held on May 3, 2016, with respect to "Defining and Applying Diversity: 'Gender Lens'", was received; it being noted that the Advisory Committee on the Environment indicated that the document was not written in plain language, the format is not appropriate and the request is not within their mandate.

 

17.

Summer Meeting Schedule

 

That the Committee Secretary BE REQUESTED to poll the Members for meeting dates of July 6 and July 13, 2016; it being noted that the Advisory Committee on the Environment will not meet in August, 2016.

DEFERRED MATTERS/ADDITIONAL BUSINESS

 

18.

(ADDED) 5th Report of the Environmental and Ecological Planning Advisory Committee – Municipal Council Resolution

 

That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution from its session held on May 17, 2016, with respect to the 5th Report of the Environmental and Ecological Planning Advisory Committee, was received.

 

19.

(ADDED) Hamilton’s Complete Streets

 

That it BE NOTED that D. Szoller advised the Advisory Committee on the Environment (ACE) that P. Topalovic, Project Manager, City of Hamilton, will be speaking about Hamilton’s Complete Streets at the Cycling Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting to be held on June 15, 2016; it being noted that ACE members were encouraged to attend the CAC meeting.
