AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

 

meeting held on December 16, 2015, commencing at 5:00 PM, in Committee Room #5, Second Floor, London City Hall. 

 

PRESENT:  L. McKenna (Chair), H. Fletcher, S. Franke, A. Lawrence, M. McAlpine and S. Twynstra and B. Mercier (Secretary). 

 

ABSENT:  P. Conlin and K. Dinel.

CALL TO ORDER

Disclosures of Pecuniary Interest

 

That it BE NOTED that no pecuniary interests were disclosed.

Election of Chair and Vice-Chair

 

That L. McKenna and S. Franke BE APPOINTED as Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, for the term ending November 30, 2016.

Urban Agriculture in London

 

That it BE NOTED that a verbal update from L. Maitland, Planner 1, with respect to Urban Agriculture in London, was received; it being noted that the Agricultural Advisory Committee was advised that the draft Terms of Reference for Urban Agriculture may be available by the Spring of 2016.

That it BE NOTED that the 3rd Report of the Agricultural Advisory Committee from its meeting held on September 16, 2015, was received.

7th, 8th and 1st Reports of the Advisory Committee on the Environment

 

That it BE NOTED that the 7th, 8th and 1st Reports of the Advisory Committee on the Environment from its meetings held on October 7, November 4 and December 2, 2015, respectively, were received.

Municipal Council Resolution - 3rd Report of the Agriculture Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution adopted at its session held on October 13, 2015, with respect to the 3rd Report of the Agricultural Advisory Committee from its meeting held on September 16, 2015, was received.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

 

7.

Mushroom Farm Zoning Review - City Of London

 

That the Civic Administration BE ADVISED that the Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC) indicated that in its opinion, the setback requirement for mushroom farms should be 500m from the nearest dwelling, institutional zone or hamlet zone, due to the nature of the business; it being noted that the AAC received a draft report from the Managing Director, Planning and City Planner, and heard a verbal report from L. Maitland, Planner 1, with respect to this matter.

2016 Work Plan

 

That the revised attached 2016 Work Plan for the Agricultural Advisory Committee BE FORWARDED to the Municipal Council for consideration.

 

9.

AAC Representative for London Advisory Committee on Heritage

 

That the matter of an Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC) representative for the London Advisory Committee on Heritage BE DEFERRED to the March 16, 2016 meeting of the AAC, for consideration.

 

10.

Frequency of Meetings

 

That the Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC) Terms of Reference BE AMENDED to change the frequency of the meetings from quarterly to five (5) times annually, January, March, June, September and November.
