  • PRESENT: A. Morrison (Chair), A. Cantell, A. Hames, J. Kogelheide, P. Nicholson, and A. Valastro; A. Pascual (Committee Clerk)

    ABSENT: S. Thapa

    ALSO PRESENT: T. Arnos, M. Hooydonk, S. Rowland, J.A. Spence, S. Stafford, and B. Williamson

    The meeting was called to order at 12:22 PM; it being noted that the following Members were in remote attendance: A. Cantell, A. Hames, J. Kogelheide, A. Morrison, P. Nicholson, and A. Valastro.


That it BE NOTED that no pecuniary interests were disclosed.

  • That it BE NOTED that the 8th Report of the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee, from its meeting held on October 27, 2021, was received.

  • That the Letter of Resignation from M. Demand BE RECEIVED.

  • That the following actions be taken with respect to the Tree Planting Strategy - 2022-2026:

    a)        a Working Group BE ESTABLISHED to compile comments, feedback, and recommendations with respect to the Tree Planting Strategy and to report back at the next Trees and Forests Advisory Committee; and,

    b)        the memorandum, as appended to the Added Agenda, from Scott Stafford, Director, Parks and Forestry, J.A. Spence, Manager, Urban Forestry, and S. Rowland, Urban Forestry Planner, with respect to this matter, BE RECEIVED.

     

  • That Civic Administration BE REQUESTED to pursue any opportunity to increase natural cover and the ecological benefits that it brings through the reduction of mowing;

    it being noted that the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee held a discussion with respect to the 2022 Budget Review related to Case #P-8 - Parks Planning and Design, Parks and Horticulture and Urban Forestry - Naturalization and Reduction in Tree Trimming;

    it being further noted that the communication from A. Valastro, with respect to this matter, was received.

That it BE NOTED that the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee held a general discussion with respect to their next meeting to be held on December 22, 2021.
