meeting held on October 1, 2015, commencing at 5:10 PM, in Committee Room #4, Second Floor, London City Hall.

Animal Welfare Advisory Committee Work Plan

 

That the Municipal Council resolution from its meeting held on June 10, 2015, with respect to an annual work plan for advisory committee’s BE RECEIVED; it being noted that the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee subcommittees will develop a list of initiatives for the work plan.

That it BE NOTED that the 5th Report of the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee from its meeting held on September 3, 2015, was received.

Animal Welfare Advisory Committee Resignation - Peggianne Wright

 

That it BE NOTED that the communication dated August 26, 2015, from P. Wright with respect to her resignation from the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee, was received.

That it BE NOTED that a verbal update from W. Brown, with respect to the wildlife sub-committee, was received.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

 

7.

Tree Trimming and Wildlife Displacement

 

That Civic Administration BE REQUESTED to consider the following actions with respect to tree trimming and wildlife displacement for inclusion in the City of London Humane Urban Wildlife Conflict Policy:

 

a)            observe sensitive timing windows, avoiding work during birthing and hibernation seasons;

 

b)            include an inspection for animals as part of the regular tree inspection;

 

c)            pre-stress all trees prior to work initiating to encourage animals to move; and,

 

d)            relocate nests to a nearby tree or nesting box, and any injured animals to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator;

 

it being noted that these recommendations are in accordance with the City of London’s Humane Urban Wildlife Conflict Policy; it being further noted that the attached presentation from F. Morrison and M. Blosh, with respect to tree trimming and wildlife displacement, was received.
