AGRICULTURAL
ADVISORY COMMITTEE
meeting held on March
22, 2017, commencing at 7:00 PM, in Committee Room #1, Second Floor, London
City Hall.
PRESENT: L. McKenna (Chair), H. Fletcher,
S. Franke, M. McAlpine and S. Twynstra and J. Bunn (Secretary).
ABSENT: A. Lawrence.
ALSO PRESENT: L. Hollingsworth
and L. Mottram.
That it BE NOTED that no pecuniary
interests were disclosed.

That it BE NOTED that the 1st Report of the
Agricultural Advisory Committee from its meeting held on January 18, 2017,
was received.
|
That it BE NOTED that the 3rd Report of the
Advisory Committee on the Environment from its meeting held on February 1,
2017, was received.
|
That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council
resolution from its session held on February 14 and February 15, 2017, with
respect to the 1st Report of the Agricultural Advisory Committee, was
received.

That it BE NOTED that the notice of Public
Information Centre from E. Soldo, Director, Roads and Transportation and J.
Heyninck, Associate Director, IBI Group, relating to the Environmental
Assessment for the Rapid Transit Corridors Master Plan, was received.

That the Civic Administration BE ADVISED
that the Agricultural Advisory Committee supports of the application by Ken
Van Steensel regarding a zoning by-law amendment to continue to permit a
temporary golf driving range for an additional three year period at the
property located at 1992 Fanshawe Park Road West.

That the Civic Administration BE ADVISED
that the Agricultural Advisory Committee supports the application by Hi-tech
Engineering for a zoning by-law amendment to permit an abattoir and a
livestock facility at the property located at 8076 Longwoods Road.

That the Civic Administration BE ADVISED of
the following comments related to the proposed Official Plan Amendment:
- future development applications
minimize urban sprawl on farmland and maximize land use by considering
underground parking where suitable; and,
- consideration be given to the water
quality of Dingman Creek by minimizing exposure to contaminants and run
off within the Dingman Creek watershed from above-ground parking;
it being noted that that the Notice dated
March 8, 2017 from L. Maitland, with respect to this matter, was received.

That it BE NOTED that the Urban Agriculture
Conference: "Urban Agriculture: London's Food Future" debrief
document, from G. Sass, Advisory Committee on the Environment, was received.

That it BE NOTED that the Agricultural
Advisory Committee received the FCM Diverse Voices for Change Initiative
survey.
|
That it BE NOTED that the Agricultural
Advisory Committee held a general discussion related to The Bees Act,
R.S.O. 1990 c.B.6; it being noted that S. Franke will report back at a
future meeting with information regarding the possibility of a presentation
by P. Kozak, Provincial Apiarist.
