meeting held on September 20, 2017, commencing at 4:07 PM, in Committee Room #4, Second Floor, London City Hall. 

 

PRESENT:  D. Mitchell (Chair), D. Doroshenko, B. Goodge, J. Jordan, W. Pol and M. Zunti and J. Martin (Secretary).

 

ABSENT:  D. Szoller.

CALL TO ORDER

That it BE NOTED that no pecuniary interests were disclosed.

2.

DELEGATION - B. Goodge - Dundas Cycle Track

 

That the Managing Director, Environmental and Engineering Services and City Engineer, BE ADVISED that the Cycling Advisory Committee supports the identification of a downtown east-west cycle track in 2018 on Dundas Street;  it being noted that the attached presentation from B. Goodge with respect to this matter, was received.

8th Report of the Cycling Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the 8th Report of the Cycling Advisory Committee, from its meeting held July 19, 2017, was received.

 

4.

Municipal Council Resolution - 8th Report of the Cycling Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution adopted at its meeting held August 22, 2017 with respect to the 8th Report of the Cycling Advisory Committee, was received.

 

5.

Municipal Council Resolution - Cycling Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution adopted at its meeting held August 22, 2017 with respect to an appointment to the Cycling Advisory Committee, was received.

 

6.

Notice of Application - The Tricar Group - 32, 36 and 40 York Street and 330 Thames Street

 

That M. Campbell, Planner II, BE REQUESTED to consider the ease of access from the Thames Street entrance for required non-permanent and residential  cycling facilities with respect to the Notice dated July 12, 2017, from M. Campbell, Planner, with respect to the property located at 32, 36 and 40 York Street and 330 Thames Street, was received.

Notice of Application -  SmartREIT (Ornelia Richichi & Todd Pierce)/Corporation of the City of London - 1235 – 1295 Fanshawe Park Road West

 

That it BE NOTED that the Notice dated July 12, 2017, from B. Debbert, Planner, with respect to the property located at 1235 – 1295 Fanshawe Park Road West, was received.

 

8.

Notice of Application - Farhi Holdings - 200 Albert Street, 192 – 196 Central Avenue and 193 – 197 Central Avenue

 

That the following actions be taken with respect to the application of Farhi Holdings related to the properties located at 200 Albert Street, 192 – 196 Central Avenue and 193 – 197 Central Avenue:

 

a)            the Cycling Advisory Committee (CAC) opposes the extension of temporary zoning for parking at these locations as the CAC does not see this as a benefit to active transportation; and,

 

b)            should this application proceed B. Debbert, Planner BE REQUESTED to consider incorporating a protected cycling parking area in each lot.

Resilient Cities Conference - November 17 and 18, 2017

 

              That it BE NOTED that a communication dated August 23, 2017, from the Advisory Committee on the Environment, with respect to the Resilient Cities Conference to be held November 17 and 18, 2017, was received.

Cycling Advisory Sub-Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that a verbal update from D. Mitchell, on behalf of the Cycling Advisory Sub-Committee, was received.

 

V.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

 

11.

Bike Share Program

 

That it BE NOTED that the Cycling Advisory Committee (CAC) approved the Chair to meet with local university and college representatives to discuss current and future bike share programs, with a report back at a future meeting of the CAC with respect to this matter.

 

12.

Request for Representative for the Municipal Advisory Group

 

              That it BE NOTED that the Cycling Advisory Committee approved J. Jordan as its representative and D. Mitchell as the alternate representative to the Municipal Advisory Group – Rapid Transit.

 

13.

Cycling Advisory Committee Representative for the Transportation Advisory Committee

 

              That it BE NOTED that the Cycling Advisory Committee approved D. Doroshenko as its representative to Transportation Advisory Committee.

 

14.

Trans Canada Trail Update - D. Mitchell

 

That it BE NOTED that a general discussion was held with respect to the potential to link London to the Trans Canada Trail; it being noted that the committee was advised that discussions are taking place with respect to this matter.
