Motion made by Councillor M. Salih and
seconded by Councillor B. Armstrong that pursuant to section 13.3 of the
Council Procedure By-law, clause 17 of the 2nd Report of the Community and
Protective Services Committee regarding alternative formats for Council and
Standing Committee Agendas to support great participation in local government
BE RECONSIDERED.

Motion made by Councillor M. Salih and
seconded by Councillor B. Armstrong to Approve that the following actions be
taken with respect to Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
compliance, as outlined in Communication No. 1b) dated February 2, 2017, from
Councillors M. Salih, J. Morgan and J. Helmer; it being noted that the City
Manager gave a verbal overview with respect to this matter:
a) the Civic
Administration BE DIRECTED to make the necessary arrangements to repost all
videos pertaining to Municipal Council and Standing Committee meetings as soon
as possible;
b) the Civic
Administration BE DIRECTED to undertake the following actions:
i) contact
the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario with respect to the Municipal Council
and Standing Committee videos to seek clarification as to the videos compliance
to AODA;
ii) if
it is determined that the videos are not in compliance with the legislation,
seek guidance as to how the videos could remain posted while work is undertaken
to bring them into compliance; and,
iii) report
back to the Corporate Services Committee by the end of February 2017 with an
update with respect to the above-noted matters;
c) the Civic
Administration BE DIRECTED to report back on what actions have been taken with
respect to any outstanding Municipal Council directions and enquiries relating
to AODA compliance, including the accuracy of any compliance reports that have
been submitted to the Accessibility Directorate;
d) the report
dated January 24, 2017, related to alternative formats for Council and Standing
Committee agendas to support greater participation in local government BE
FORWARDED to the Accessibility Advisory Committee for comments; it being noted
that there will be a follow up report within 60 days; and,
e) the Civic
Administration BE DIRECTED to bring forward any reports required for submission
under the AODA to the Municipal Council, for its review, prior to submission.
