meeting held on December 3, 2015, commencing at 5:04 PM, in Committee Room #3, Second Floor, London City Hall. 

 

PRESENT:  W. Brown (Chair), K. Ashe, M. Gelinas, V. Lightfoot, P. Newbould, M. Puzanov, D. Simpson, J. Sukhdeo and M. Toplack and J. Martin (Secretary).

 

ABSENT: K. MacIntosh and C. Perquin.

That it BE NOTED that no pecuniary interests were disclosed.

Election of Chair and Vice-Chair for the term ending November 30, 2016

 

That it BE NOTED that the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee elected W. Brown as its Chair and J. Sukhdeo as its Vice Chair for the term ending November 30, 2016.

7th Report on the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the 7th Report of the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee from its meeting held on November 5, 2015, was received.

Tree Trimming and Wildlife Displacement

 

That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution from its meeting held on October 27, 2015, with respect to tree trimming and wildlife displacement, was received.

 

5.

Letter of Resignation

 

That it BE NOTED that communication dated October 1, 2015, from J. Fawcett-Cornish with respect to her resignation, was received.

Wildlife Sub-Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that a verbal update from W. Brown, on behalf of the wildlife sub-committee, was received.

Companion Animals Sub-Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that a verbal update from J. Sukhdeo, on behalf of the companion animal sub-committee, was received.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

 

8.

Pest, Rodent, Wildlife Control Practices

 

That Civic Administration BE REQUESTED to provide a presentation (or information) to the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee with respect to the current requirements in pest, rodent and wildlife control specifically related to the inclusion of humane removal practices that would be in keeping with the City’s Humane Urban Wildlife Conflict Policy, both enacted and under development.

 

9.

2016 Animal Welfare Advisory Committee Work Plan

 

That it BE NOTED that the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (AWAC) held a general discussion with respect to the 2016 AWAC Work Plan; it being noted that AWAC members are encouraged to review the draft work plan for finalization at the January meeting.
