Diversity Inclusion and Anti-Oppression

Advisory Committee

 

meeting held on July 20, 2017, commencing at 12:07 PM, in Committee Room #5, Second Floor, London City Hall.

CALL TO ORDER

Disclosures of Pecuniary Interest

 

That it BE NOTED that A. Sanchez declared a pecuniary interest in clause 11 of this Report, having to do with the consultations regarding arrangements for the City of London to become a Sanctuary City, by indicating that her employer, is in discussions with the City with respect to this matter.

That it BE NOTED that the meeting was opened with an Acknowledgement of Indigenous Lands by R. Hussain.

That it BE NOTED that no traditional opening was received.

Pride London Festival

 

That it BE NOTED that a verbal presentation from A. Rosser, President, Pride London, with respect to Pride London and the Pride London Festival, was received.

SUB-COMMITTEES & WORKING GROUPS

 

5.

Education and Awareness Sub-Committee

 

That the following actions be taken with respect to the minutes of the Education and Awareness Sub-committee minutes from their meetings held on May 24, 2017:

 

a)          a community awareness event based on the theme of Gender Identity, Gender Expression and the impact of Intersectionalities on Gender BE APPROVED, in principle; it being noted that the Education and Awareness Sub-Committee will report back at the next meeting of the Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression Advisory Committee (DIAAC) with the details regarding the proposed event including budget;  and,

 

b)         the minutes of the Education and Awareness Sub-committee from its meeting held on May 24, 2017, BE RECEIVED;

 

it being noted that the Education and Awareness Sub-committee work plan was referred back to the Sub-Committee.

Policy and Planning Sub-Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the minutes of the Policy and Planning Sub-committee from its meeting held on July 6, 2017, and their workplan, were received.

 

7.

Awards and Recognition Sub-Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that a verbal update from F. Cassar on behalf of the Awards and Recognition Sub-Committee, was received.

8.

7th Report of the Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the 7th Report of the Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression Advisory Committee, from its meeting held on June 15, 2017, was received.

 

9.

Complete Streets Design Manual - Presentations

 

That it BE NOTED that the Complete Streets Design Manual materials, from the workshop held June 2, 2017, were received; it being noted that the Civic Administration will make a presentation in the fall with respect to this matter.

2018 Mayor's New Years' Honours List - Nominations Requested

 

That it BE NOTED that a communication from the City Clerk, dated June 28, 2017, with respect to the 2018 Mayor’s New Year’s Honour List, was received; it being noted that the members of the Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression Advisory Committee are encouraged to submit nominations to its Committee Secretary by September 5, 2017.

DEFERRED MATTERS/ADDITIONAL BUSINESS

Consultations Regarding Arrangements for the City of London to Become a Sanctuary City

 

That it BE NOTED that the staff report, dated May 29, 2017 from the Managing Director Housing, Social Services and Dearness Home, with respect to consultations regarding arrangements for the City of London to become a Sanctuary City, was received.

2016 Diversity Inclusion & Anti-Oppression Advisory Committee Work Plan Summary

 

That it BE NOTED that consideration of the 2016 Work Plan Summary was deferred to a future meeting of the Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression Advisory Committee.

 

13.

2017 Diversity Inclusion & Anti-Oppression Advisory Committee Work Plan

 

That it BE NOTED that consideration of the 2017 Work Plan was deferred to a future meeting of the Diversity Inclusion and Anti-Oppression Advisory Committee.
