ANIMAL
WELFARE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
meeting held on September
1, 2016, commencing at 5:00 PM, in Committee Room #3, Second Floor, London City
Hall.
PRESENT: W. Brown (Chair), K. Ashe, H. de
Hoog, V. Lightfoot, P. Lystar, E. Nicholas, M. Puzanov, D. Simpson and J. Sukadeo
and H. Lysynski (Secretary).
ABSENT: M. Gelinas, K. MacIntosh and A. Parsons.
ALSO PRESENT: J. MacKay, S.
Mathers and R. Oke.

That it BE NOTED that no pecuniary
interests were disclosed.

That it BE NOTED that the attached
presentation from S. Mathers, Division Manager, Stormwater Engineering, with
respect to the Beaver Protocol Pilot Projects, 2016 update and the attached
Ottawa-Carleton Wildlife Centre newsletter, “Discover Your Relationship with
Nature”, were received.

That it BE NOTED that the 8th Report of the
Animal Welfare Advisory Committee, from its meeting held on August 4, 2016,
was received.

|
That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council
resolution adopted at its meeting held on March 22, 2016, with respect to the
provision of child minding services for the public at public participation
meetings related to a Standing Committee meeting, was received.
|
|
That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council
resolution adopted at its meeting held on July 26, 2016, with respect to the
Humane Urban Wildlife Conflict Policy, was received.
|
|
That it BE NOTED that the Animal Welfare
Advisory Committee (AWAC) received a verbal update from W. Brown, on behalf
of the AWAC Wildlife Sub-Committee.

|
That it BE NOTED that the Animal Welfare
Advisory Committee (AWAC) received an update from W. Brown, with respect to draft
bird friendly development guidelines.
|
|
That, the Chief Municipal Law Enforcement
Officer BE REQUESTED to provide the Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (AWAC)
with the following information related to the proposed Business Licensing of
Pet Stores:
a)
a
list of allowable species for pet shop owners to sell;
b)
the
next steps to be taken; and,
c)
advice
to the AWAC on how they can assist;
it being noted that the AWAC reviewed a
report dated June 21, 2016, from the Managing Director, Development and
Compliance Services and Chief Building Official, with respect to this matter.

That it BE NOTED that the Animal Welfare
Advisory Committee (AWAC) received a verbal update from W. Brown, with
respect to the transfer of animals to outside groups and organizations.
|
|
