Election of Chair and Vice Chair for the Term Ending November 30, 2015

Recommendation:  That it BE NOTED that the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee elected R. Mannella as its Chair and A. Cantell as its Vice Chair for the term ending November 30, 2015.

Committee Orientation

Recommendation:  That it BE NOTED that the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee (TFAC) orientation from J. Martin, Committee Secretary was received; it being noted the TFAC requested additional orientation with respect to the City of London Urban Forestry Policies, Practices and Guidelines.

Urban Design and GIS and Downtown Design Manual

Recommendation:  That it BE NOTED that the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee (TFAC) received a presentation from B. O’Hagan, Urban Designer, with respect to the draft Urban Design and GIS and Downtown Design Manuals; it being noted that the members of TFAC are encouraged to further review these matters for additional discussion at a future TFAC meeting.

Recommendation:  That the 2nd Report of the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee from its meeting held on February 25, 2015 BE RECEIVED.

Million Tree Challenge Status Update

Recommendation:  That the staff report from J. Fleming, dated March 23, 2015, with respect to the Million Tree Challenge Status Update BE RECEIVED.

Appointments to the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee

Recommendation:  That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution adopted at its meeting held on February 24, 2015, with respect to the appointments to the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee for the term ending February 28, 2019, was received.

1st Report of the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee

Recommendation:  That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution adopted at its meeting held on February 24, 2015, with respect to the 1st Report of the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee, was received.

9.

City of London Tree Planting Strategy Survey

Recommendation:  That the following actions be taken with respect to the City of London tree planting strategy survey:

a)            the Civic Administration BE REQUESTED to consider inclusion of measures to respond to unexpected crises, in the tree planting strategy; and,

b)            the Civic Administration BE REQUESTED to consider the definition of demographics under “planting location” to include demographics (such as age) of trees as well as people.

10.

Trees and Forests Advisory Committee Feedback on the Proposed City Tree Protection By-law

Recommendation:  That the attached communication dated March 16, 2015 with respect to the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee (TFAC) feedback on the proposed City Tree Protection By-law, BE RECEIVED; it being noted that the communication was submitted to Civic Administration for consideration.

Request for Delegation Status – R. Cormier, President, Terrafact – Aerial Tree Health Assessment

Recommendation:  That it BE NOTED that the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee approved the request for delegation status from R. Cormier, President, Terrafact – Aerial Tree Health Assessment; it being noted that R. Cormier will be invited to a future meeting of the TFAC.
