Amendments to the Terms of Reference for the City of London Advisory Committees

 

That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution adopted at its session held on June 10, 2015, with respect to amendments to the Terms of Reference for advisory committees, to require advisory committees to submit an annual work plan, was received.

That it BE NOTED that a verbal presentation, from D. MacRae, Division Manager, Transportation Planning and Design, with respect to London ON Bikes, was received.

Environmental Screening Process for Landfill Service Area Changes

 

That it BE NOTED that the attached revised presentation dated October 7, 2015, from J. Stanford, Director of Environment, Fleet and Solid Waste and W. Abbott, Division Manager, Solid Waste Engineering, with respect to the environmental screening process for landfill service area changes, was received.

That it BE NOTED that the 4th Report of the Transportation Advisory Committee from its meeting held on September 1, 2015, was received.

3rd Report of the Agricultural Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the 3rd Report of the Agricultural Advisory Committee from its meeting held on September 16, 2015, was received.

8th Report of the Environmental and Ecological Planning Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the 8th Report of the Environmental and Ecological Planning Advisory Committee from its meeting held on September 17, 2015, was received.

 

9.

6th Report of the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee

 

That it BE NOTED that the 6th Report of the Trees and Forests Advisory Committee from its meeting held on September 23, 2015, was received.

 

10.

Appointment to the Advisory Committee on the Environment

 

That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution from its session held on September 1, 2015, with respect to the appointment of S. Armstrong, representing the Thames Valley District School Board on the Advisory Committee on the Environment, was received.

Education and Outreach Sub-Committee

 

That the Education and Outreach Sub-committee Report from its meeting held on May 27, 2015, BE RECEIVED.

 

VI.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

 

12.

ACE Best Practices

 

That the matter of the Advisory Committee on the Environment (ACE) best practices BE DEFERRED to a future meeting of the ACE.

 

13.

ACE Representative for EEPAC

 

That S. Hall BE APPOINTED to represent the Advisory Committee on the Environment on the Environmental and Ecological Planning Advisory Committee, for the term ending February 28, 2019.

 

14.

Sustainability Working Group - Putting Sustainability Front and Centre in the City of London

 

That the following actions be taken with respect to the Sustainability Working Group Report:

 

a)         the Civic Administration BE REQUESTED to consider the development of a Sustainability Statement, which could be incorporated in the London Plan, but also form the basis of a sustainability framework that would include a vision, goals, principles, strategies and a definition of sustainability, and be featured prominently on the city’s website and publications;

 

b)         should a Sustainability Statement be developed, as noted in a) above, the Civic Administration BE REQUESTED to have the Sustainability Statement form the basis of a revamped Green and Healthy City section, which could be moved to the front of the City Building Policies, as part of the London Plan;

 

c)         a Sustainability Officer, Markham, Ontario BE INVITED attend a future meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Environment (ACE) to speak on this matter; it being noted that the ACE approved up to $200.00 from its 2015 Budget for the speaker’s travel expenses; and,

 

d)         it BE NOTED that the Sustainability Working Group minutes from its meeting held on September 27, 2015, was received.
