meeting held on October
27, 2016, commencing at 12:22 PM, in Committee Room #1, Second Floor, London
City Hall.
PRESENT: L. Norman (Chair), J. Bennett, I.
Bielaska-Hornblower, S. Davis, B. Hall, B. Rankin, M. Sherritt and L. Steel and
H. Lysynski (Secretary).
ABSENT: P. Arcese, D. Judson and B. Spearman.
ALSO PRESENT: M. Sands and J.
Walter.
That it BE NOTED that no pecuniary
interests were disclosed.

That it BE NOTED that the 5th Report of the
Community Safety and Crime Prevention Advisory Committee from its meeting
held on September 22, 2016, was received.
|
That it BE NOTED that the Community Safety
and Crime Prevention Advisory Committee heard a verbal presentation from M.
Sand, Executive Director, Neighbourhood Watch London (NWL); it being noted
that NWL is undergoing significant changes to its programming.
|
That the update from Block Parent® London
BE POSTPONED to the next meeting of the Community Safety and Crime Prevention
Advisory Committee; it being noted that the Block Parent® London
representative was unable to attend the meeting.
|
That the update from London Fire Services
BE POSTPONED to the next meeting of the Community Safety and Crime Prevention
Advisory Committee; it being noted that the London Fire Services
representative was unable to attend the meeting.
|
That the Civic Administration BE REQUESTED
to undertake to include the following on Advisory Committees pages of the
City of London website:
a)
a greater Committee presence with easier access on the City of
London website for all Advisory Committees;
b)
all Committee Minutes, Reports and Agendas be posted on the
respective Committee pages;
c)
that each Advisory Committee be advised and encouraged to
determine what content they would like to highlight on their pages;
d)
the Committee Work Plan be included on the respective Committee
page;
e)
links to Voting Members’ and Non-Voting Resource Members’
websites be included on the respective Committee pages;
f)
a list of past and present Advisory Committee’s accomplishments
and initiatives; and,
g)
the addition of current and future events that the Advisory
Committee is organizing.

That it BE NOTED that the Community Safety
and Crime Prevention Advisory Committee (CSCP) approved expenditures of $3,000
to the Children's Safety Village for the redesign and printing of educational
material; it being noted that the CSCP has sufficient funds in its 2016
Budget for this expenditure.

That the attached, revised, 2016
Community Safety and Crime Prevention (CSCP) Work Plan BE FORWARDED to the
Municipal Council for consideration; it being noted that the CSCP is intending
to organize Community Safety Week activities for 2017.

“Not By Accident” Conference
|
That it BE NOTED that L. Norman provided an
update on the "Not By Accident" Conference that was held on
September 18, 2016 at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn; it being noted that
there were excellent speakers at the Conference; it being further noted that
Conference topics included an increase in the fines for distracted driving, an
increase in the number of road tests for seniors and the proposed Pedestrian
Safety Act.

That the Committee Secretary BE REQUESTED
to invite the following delegations to the next meeting of the Community
Safety and Crime Prevention Advisory Committee Agenda:
a)
a
London Police Services representative to provide an update related to the
enforcement of the reduced speed limits in school zones; and,
b)
a
London Transit Commission representative to provide an outline related to bus
safety.

Advisory Committee convened in camera from 2:15 PM to 2:25 PM after having
passed a motion to do so, with respect to the following matter:
