The City of London is situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek (AUh-nish-in-ah-bek), Haudenosaunee (Ho-den-no-show-nee), Lūnaapéewak (Len-ah-pay-wuk) and Attawandaron (Add-a-won-da-run).
We honour and respect the history, languages and culture of the diverse Indigenous people who call this territory home. The City of London is currently home to many First Nations, Métis and Inuit today.
As representatives of the people of the City of London, we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and live in this territory.

    ABSENT: H. Duhamel, J. Higgins and S. Ryall

    ALSO PRESENT:  W. Jeffery, M. McBride and J. Raycroft

    The meeting commenced at 3:04 PM; it being noted that W. Brown, M. Blosh, K. Coulter, A. Hames, N. Karsch and M. Toplack were in remote attendance. 

     

That it BE NOTED that no pecuniary interests were disclosed.

  • That it BE NOTED that the 3rd Report of the Animal Welfare Community Advisory Committee, from its meeting held on March 7, 2024, was received.

  • That it BE NOTED that the 4th Report of the Animal Welfare Community Advisory Committee, from its meeting held on April 4, 2024, was received.

  • That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution adopted at its meeting held on April 2, 2024, with respect to the appointment of M. Rist to the Animal Welfare Community Advisory Committee, was received.

  • That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution adopted at its meeting held on April 2, 2024, with respect to the 3rd Report of the Animal Welfare Community Advisory Committee, was received.

  • That the resignation of J. Higgins BE RECEIVED.

  • That it BE NOTED that the Animal Welfare Community Advisory Committee held a general discussion with respect to the status of the Bird Friendly display panels; it being noted that the AWCAC was advised that the display panels have been completed.

  • That the following actions be taken with respect to the Animal Welfare Community Advisory Committee (AWCAC) banner:

    a) the banner wording BE PROVIDED to the AWCAC Sub-Committee for further consideration; and,

    b) the Acting Committee Clerk BE REQUESTED to include a discussion on the banner on the June 5, 2024 AWCAC Agenda.

  • That it BE NOTED that the Animal Welfare Community Advisory Committee held a discussion with respect to future participation in the Go Wild, Grow Wild Conference; it being further noted that M. Rist will determine what community events the AWCAC may wish to attend.

  • That the following actions be taken with respect to private zoos and mobile animal display shows:

    a) W. Brown, Chair, Animal Welfare Community Advisory Committee (AWCAC) BE GIVEN delegation status at the appropriate Standing Committee when the decision has been rendered relating to the private zoos and mobile animal display shows ; and,

    b) the AWCAC BE KEPT in the discussion on the private zoos and mobile animal display shows and offer advice and recommendations.

  • That H. Duhamel and S. Ryall BE REMOVED from the Animal Welfare Community Advisory Committee due to lack of attendance.

  • That it BE NOTED that the banner matter was inadvertently placed on the agenda twice in error.
