The City of London is situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek (AUh-nish-in-ah-bek), Haudenosaunee (Ho-den-no-show-nee), Lūnaapéewak (Len-ah-pay-wuk) and Attawandaron (Add-a-won-da-run).
We honour and respect the history, languages and culture of the diverse Indigenous people who call this territory home. The City of London is currently home to many First Nations, Métis and Inuit today.
As representatives of the people of the City of London, we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and live in this territory.

    The meeting was called to order at 3:00 PM.

     

That it BE NOTED that no pecuniary interests were disclosed.

  • That it BE NOTED that the 7th Report of the Integrated Transportation Community Advisory Committee, from the meeting held on June 19, 2024, was received.

  • That it BE NOTED that the Municipal Council resolution, from the meeting held on June 25, 2024, with respect to the 6th Report of the Integrated Transportation Community Advisory Committee, was received.

  • That the following actions be taken with respect to the Environment and Transit Sub-Committee item, as appended to the Agenda:

    a)    the London Transit Commission (LTC) BE REQUESTED to run a driver’s awareness campaign/education program related to the issue of lane jumping around city buses and to have an ongoing campaign on the LTC website; and,

    b)    the London Police Services and the London Transit Commission BE REQUESTED to work together on enforcement to allow buses to merge back into traffic after a stop.

  • That it BE NOTED that the document, as appended to the Agenda, with respect to the Mobility Master Plan Sub-Committee, was received and a general discussion was held with respect to the matters within.

  • That it BE NOTED that the document, as appended to the Agenda, with respect to the Active Transportation Sub-Committee, was received and a general discussion was held with respect to the matters within.

  • That the Municipal Council BE REQUESTED to direct the Civic Administration and the London Transit Commission to prepare a business case, on a priority basis, and to advocate to the Federal Government for funding from the new Canada Public Transit Fund in order to ensure that there will be an adequate transit system and services available to London's growing population;

    it being noted that London is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada and as London builds more homes faster, public transit will be one essential way to connect communities and keep the cost of living affordable.
